Members of the public are able to put questions to the Commissioner, or to the Panel, at every meeting. Questions need to be asked in writing and must be submitted to the Panel no later than two weeks prior to the date of the meeting. Members of the Panel can ask a supplementary question, once they have heard the response.
Questions can be about any policy issue relating to policing in Sussex, but not related to operational matters or a live case.
Questions and their answers are recorded in the minutes of the meeting, together with the name of the questioner.
The Panel will next meet on Friday 25 September at 10.30am. The meeting will be held virtually and webcast live. Items on the agenda will include:
- the Commissioner’s role in Sussex Police’s response to Rural Crime and Business Crime
- response to Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services Inspection of Roads Policing.
Residents are invited to contact the Panel in case they have experiences and questions about policy or strategy which could help inform the lines of questioning pursued by Panel members.
Names will be withheld at the questioner’s request.
